The "Grand Old Lady of Locust Street" in Philadelphia sparkled Saturday night when more than 2,800 guests turned out on a cold and snowy night for the Academy of Music's 153rd Anniversary Concert, followed by the ball with 2,100 guests at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue.
The ladies were attired in designer gowns from Versace, Marchesa, Escada, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Jessica Saphire, a Drexel design student, to individual creations; and the gentlemen in white tie, enhancing the ambiance of the evening. The evening began with a president's reception in the newly restored ballroom at the Academy of Music.

The Philadelphia Antiques Show, celebrating its 49th anniversary, will feature 50 of the nation's foremost arts and antiques dealers showcasing rare period furniture, folk and fine art, ceramics, porcelain, silver, textiles and jewelry opens at a preview reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 16.
The show continues through Tuesday, April 20 at The Navy Yard, Philadelphia Cruise Terminal at Pier One, 5100 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia. During the preview reception guests will view the antique and decorative collections presented for sale by the dealers while enjoying cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a buffet dinner.
